There's no better evidence for that than the car's elaborate boot hinges. I bet these things cost quite a few bob to make - seems a pity to hide them away really. If I had a Phaeton, I'd probably spend all my time opening and closing the boot in order to admire them.

I keep seeing Phaetons locally to me (or maybe it is the same one?). If you like fancy hinges try and have a look at the door hinges on a Lexus Coupe. They're not quite as fancy as the Phaeton's polished components but they seem like a wonderfully complicated way to hinge a door.
